Stage 9: Antofagasta - Iquique

A new race day elapsed on Chilean soil and our pilot Hernán Kim along with Luciano Gennoni could move into a new stage. It was 556 timed kilometers, in a rout that has dirt, then a lot of sand,  known as fesh fesh (sand dust).

At this stage the defending champion, qatarí Nasser Al Attiyah, and the Di Palma brothers abandoned the competition. It is noteworthy that one third of the participants did not reach the ninth stage, which shows how tough this competition is. The experience of our drivers, team work and the response of the truck exceeded a new obstacle to the goal.

Tomorrow the challange continues and we have to get to Arica. Lima is getting closer.

Stage 10   Iquique-Arica

In the tenth stage, with a special route of 377 km, when we were saying farewell to Chile and were close to the next stage to enter the Peruvian territory, the overturning of the truck in the dunes left us out of the competitionen.
The evening found us in the desert, where we tried together to revive the hope. The effort fell short. The overturning of the truck awoke us from our dream: reaching Lima.
There were more than 10 days of competition, in which the sacrifice and courage of Hernán Kim and Luciano Gennoni along with the support team, allowed to overcome many difficulties that arose in a route considered the most difficult since the Dakar is run in South America.
Unfortunately the dream to finalize it is postponed, but this setback is taken as one more obstacle to overcome and with the experience adquired, the hope of reaching the goal will be our major objective in 2013.
The technical performance of the truck as well as the human performance have to be highlighted, we know we gave everything and that, although the main objective was to reach the goal, we have no regrets. We have spent nights in the desert, we have fought to exhaustion and tried to  stay in the race until the end.
Today we con look into our eyes and know we have what it takes. The abrupt ending was a vicissitude of the competition, but we feel that reaching the goal is at the tip of our fingers, thats why those of us that form Colcar Racing Team, even in the middle of the desert never felt alone, we are a great team and we know that the secret of success is to be in good company.
